Mining just isn't what it's cracked up to be.
Aurildis was born in Camp Drybone to a mother and father who barely deserved the name. But who can blame them when things were hard in the deserts of Thanalan? Ul'dah is a distant dream to the little people, after all. But Aurildis was not a ‘little’ anything—she had hunger for more than just food.At the first opportunity, she makes her way to the Jewel of the Desert and gets hired by Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern, only to be quickly made into the impromptu bodyguard of one of said sons. It pushes her to train her body in more than just the swing of a pick or the scoop of a shovel, learning to swing a sword and bear the weight of a shield for a time. But in their misadventures, she feels the pull toward knowledge.Perhaps she's simply got a chip on her shoulder when it comes to her humble beginnings, having to teach herself how to read, how to write and do other things that come by so naturally for others with the gil—but she is done being ignorant, done feeling powerless. And so she turns to the Thaumaturges guild, embarks on a journey through the dark places of the world, and comes out the other end changed—for the better or for the worse, who can rightly say?
